Party Booking FAQs

How do I contact SOAP?
SOAP is run entirely by volunteers and we are not always on site. For this reason we prefer to be contacted by email: hiresoapoxford@gmail.com, we will endeavour to respond to it within 48 hours. If you would prefer to talk to us there is a phone at SOAP: 01865 249787.  Playworkers cannot respond to queries about bookings.

When is SOAP available to hire?
SOAP is closed for private hire during December and January.  During the Low Season (October, 1st February – 30th April) it is available for hire at the weekends from 9am – 12pm and from 1pm – 4pm or for a full day from 9am – 4pm. During the High Season (1st May – 30th September), it is available for hire at the weekends from 9am -12pm, 1pm – 4pm, 5pm – 8pm and for a full day 9am – 8pm.  Please note there is no option to book the evening slot during September. It is also possible to hire SOAP during the week. Please look at availability and prices on our online booking system.

I want to hire SOAP for a different time slot than the ones available. Is that possible?
We are afraid that it is not possible at the moment, but you are very welcome to email us and we might be able to find a solution that will suit your needs.

How do I hire SOAP?
We have a fab new online party booking system that is really simple to use. Go to Hire SOAP page, select your date and time slot from those available. If a slot is not shown it is already booked. If you wish to book more than one slot simply add them to your shopping basket before proceeding to payment.

Do you have a waiting list to get a slot in case of cancellation?
No, sorry…!

How much is it?
During Low Season: 9am – 12pm or 1pm – 4pm £75. During High Season 9am – 12pm, 1pm – 4pm, 5pm – 8pm £85.
Please note that the deposit is included in the price when you book online.

How do I pay?
Please pay and book for your party using our online booking system.You will recieve a confirmation email with details about the venue once you have paid. If you have any queries or if you wish to pay using a different method, please email us. Please note that SOAP is run by volunteers.  We try to answer all emails within 48 hours.  Please use the online booking system if you can.

Is there a deposit?
Yes, we require a £50 deposit which will be returned after the party as long as all the terms and conditions are met. At the end of your party and before leaving SOAP, please make sure that:

1. All doors to the hut are locked
2. All windows are locked
3. All heaters are off
4. All lights are off
5. Tables and chairs wiped
6. Washing up done and away
7. Toilets cleaned & rubbish removed from toilet bins
8. Floor cleaned and mopped
9. Outside space clear of rubbish
10. All rubbish removed and taken with you, including party banners/decorations
11. BBQ coals removed and taken with you
12. Gates locked

Please leave SOAP clean and tidy and only take what belongs to you.  Failure to do any of the above, will result in losing your deposit.

What happens on the day of the party?
In the week before your party you will be contacted with information about key pick up and drop off as well as receiving a reminder of the party guidelines.  A contact number will also be provided in case of any problems.  If you have not received an email, please check your junk folder before contacting SOAP.

Are there any cooking facilities?
There is no oven, but a BBQ, electric kettle and microwave on site.  Please note that BBQ coals must be removed when you leave.

Can we bring a BBQ?
You may bring a BBQ.  Please ensure that all coals and any disposable BBQs are removed from SOAP at the end of the party.

What crockery is at SOAP?
We have mugs for tea, a couple of water jugs and a collection of plates.  We no longer offer much else for parties because it’s all disappeared!

Is there a fridge?
There is a fridge/freezer which you are welcome to use but please ensure all items are removed at the end of the party.

What tables and chairs are there?
There are 4 sofas, benches and tables.

How many toilets are there?
There are two toilets. Toilet roll is supplied.

Is there heating at SOAP?
There are electric heaters on the walls.  Please do not let children sit on the protective cages.  Heaters must be turned off at the end of the party and failure to do so could jeopardise the full return of your deposit.

What do we do with rubbish?
All rubbish must be removed from SOAP at the end of your party. Failure to do so could jeopardise the full return of your deposit

Are Dogs allowed?
No, sorry!

Is there parking?
There is space for 2-3 cars at SOAP. Other cars must park elsewhere and please be aware that traffic wardens regularly patrol the local area. There are some 2 hour parking slots on White House Rd and a Pay and Display at Hinksey Park. The best way is to park your car at Redbridge Park and Ride. There are many buses that will stop on the corner of Abingdon Rd and White House Rd.
